Bartzella Itoh Peony

Peony Bartzella – This is part of the Itoh collection with amazing flower colors. This variety grows 2-3′ tall.  We have personal experience with this exceptional variety and color.  The pure yellow flowers are stunning and very unusual.  Chris Kennedy has one in his home garden and we have two in the displays gardens at Kennedy’s.  Anytime we cut them and put them in a vase we get lots of comments!  If you are looking for a conversation piece, look no further.  These make amazing cut flowers.

Itoh Peonies are the result of a cross between traditional peonies and tree peonies.  They have all the great traits of traditional peonies, but have the added benefit of a more upright habit, more flowers, larger flowers, flowers that do not flop as much and a larger variety of exotic flower colors.  They are similar to tree peonies in foliage appearance, but remain herbaceous and do not develop woody stems.  They are pricey plants, but the added traits make these plants worth while.
