Allysum is a ground hugging or pot spilling flowering annual plant that thrives in the cool spring weather.
It has an added bonus of being fragrant. The sweet scent is the reason we love using it in pots near where you nose might end up such as the outdoor dining table and maybe briefly in the window sill. Allysum traditionally only came and white and maybe one other shade, but now it comes in several shades and flavors.
Our peak selection is in April/May. Cool weather annuals are best maximized during April, May and June when they will thrive in the cool weather. July and August is a little hot for them. Sometimes they go almost dormant during any real hot stretches, but if you remain patient and keep them watered they often pop back to life in the fall and bloom well into the colder months.
